I’ve been asked many times how you can support the free tips & tricks, and say “thanks” for the answers in the forums, so I’ve finally added “contribute” buttons to the site. Any and all recurring or one-time contributions are greatly appreciated, and allow me to put more time and energy into ApertureExpert.com! Thank you!

ApertureExpert LiveTraining Session 001: Importing Your Photos

UPDATE Saturday Feb 26

The session has registered FULL, however the way the GoToWebinar system works is first-come, first-served—for joining the session! It doesn’t matter when you signed up, only when you join.

I’ll open the room 15 minutes prior to start. If registration gets more than 15% over capacity, I’ll close registration. I expect some drop-off but don’t want a bunch of unhappy ApertureExpert readers, either!

Welcome to the first ApertureExpert Live Training session! In today’s session, we’ll focus on the import dialog. While importing may seem like a simple task (and it certainly can be), there are lots of options in here that are worth knowing. The more you know, the better your file storage strategy becomes, ensuring a long, successful relationship with Aperture and your photos.

on Sunday, February 27th at…

Hawaii: 9:00 am (0900)
Los Angeles: 11:00 am (1100)
New York: 2:00 pm (1600)
London: 7:00 pm (1900)
Mumbai: 12:30 am (0030+1d)
Tokyo: 4:00 am (0400+1d)
Sydney: 6:00am (0600+1d)

Space is limited to just 100 seats—sign up early!

Agenda

30 minutes - lesson
15 minutes - Q&A

Chat

Due to the limitations of the Mac client of GoToMeeting, we can NOT have a chat room active where you can all chat amongst yourselves. If this becomes something we want to do, I’ll look into adding a separate one later. However what we DO have is a way for you to submit questions.

Questions (Q&A)

Feel free to submit your ON-TOPIC question(s) any time during the session, however they will not be addressed until the Q&A. If you’re thinking of submitting a question, take your time to craft it into a logical, coherent question that I can read live and answer without needing further info. IT’S LIKELY NOT ALL QUESTIONS WILL BE ANSWERED—we simply won’t have time. A selection of the best questions will be chosen by an assistant moderator, and those will be sent to me (like a live call-in radio show; “Bob from New York asks…”). If there are several similar questions, they will be combined into a larger single question.

If you don’t get your question answered live, feel free to post it in the forum.

Download

Remember, you’re watching this for free, but the paid $2 downloadable version will be available at ApertureExpert.tv after the session (I’ll aim to have it live within 24 hours but for this first one, we’ll see what happens). Even if you get to watch live, if you enjoyed the session, I’d certainly appreciate the support of buying the download anyway. Naturally you’re under no obligation to do so, but it’ll help keep us “on the air”!

That’s it! Enjoy the session, and remember… this is all new, so expect some hiccups ;-)

This LiveTraining was filled with information, and I appreciated the level Joseph, the instructor, delivered. He did not assume a viewer with any experience, in my opinion, of Aperture.

I recently purchased Aperture after using another image management tool for several years. There are several reasons I am looking to switch. With tutorials like this one, I feel confident I'll be able to continue very similar workflow using Aperture.

I would love to have an opportunity to continue the LiveTraining conversation in a Forum or in an IRC (simultaneously). I learn a lot from this kind of complimentary engagement on another learning site I use. The format of the session, including the Q&A was great.

Thank you so much for offering the LiveTraining for free. I appreciate the time, energy and resources it takes to deliver any kind of live content. Your delivery and the density of the content comes across as very well thought out. I appreciate your starting and ending on time.

Thank you. I look forward to future LiveTraining sessions.

Great opening Session and a mighty fine job Joseph. I look forward to many more of these. The $2 download cannot be beat so count me in for continued support.

A great start to this series. I'm really looking forward to the others. The pace of learning is just right and I really appreciate you giving your time to us for free.
