Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 5:20 PM ApertureExpert Live Training Session 014: Adjustments; Retouching
Welcome to the fourteenth ApertureExpert Live Training session!
What, you missed the last ones? That’s easily fixable with a visit to the Live Training catalog, $2 each and a large HD download.
This session is the sixth in a series of the deep-dive into Adjustments in Aperture 3. In session 008 we started with the Exposure and Enhance tools, in 009 we covered White Balance and Highlights & Shadows, in 010 we hit on Levels, and in 011 we did Curves. (013 was a separate special session) This installment will jump into retouching using Aperture. There are three tools we’ll look at (time permitting; we may split this into two sessions) — Retouch, Spot & Patch and Skin Smoothing!
Mon, Feb 13th 11:00am PST (check your time zone on signup)
REMEMBER! You can now subscribe to the ICAL feed and have reminders built into iCal, Google Calendar, or whatever calendar app you use! (enable auto-refresh when you subscribe or you won’t see the updates)
Please be sure to check your time zone carefully. When you register, you can choose to view the time in your own time zone. Please do to ensure you don’t miss out!
Space is limited to just 100 seats—sign up early and read the attendance policy!
Did you miss the earlier sessions? No fear, they’re available here.
Agenda
30 minutes - lesson
15 minutes - Q&A
Questions (Q&A)
Feel free to submit your ON-TOPIC question(s) any time during the session, however they will not be addressed until the Q&A. If you’re thinking of submitting a question, take your time to craft it into a logical, coherent question that I can read live and answer without needing further info. IT’S LIKELY NOT ALL QUESTIONS WILL BE ANSWERED—we simply won’t have time.
If you don’t get your question answered live, feel free to post it in the forum.
Download
Remember, you’re watching this for free, but the paid $2 downloadable version will be available at here at ApertureExpert.tv within 24 hours after the session. Even if you get to watch live, if you enjoyed the session, I’d certainly appreciate the support of buying the download anyway. Naturally you’re under no obligation to do so, but it’ll help keep us “on the air”!
That’s it! Enjoy the session.

Hi, After watching #12 Color and B & W, and #14 Retouching free live training, I purchased the Levels training, the Curves training and also Smart Albums and Search. Joseph has a way of teaching that is easy to understand, very thorough and complete. I would recommend any of these trainings for anyone wishing to increase there knowledge of Aperture. It helped me immensely.

Thank you Bob, that's quite a complement! I really appreciate that :)

Hi Joseph, I just attended the Dodge&Burn Live Training. Great tipps as always!
1st I thank you for clearing that weird thing with the shortcut setup. That really did it!
2d I'd like to add one more principle question: You said - dodging and burning is painting on a layer between a dark and a light version of the image - How dark is dark and how light is the "light" version of the image - what's the reference point?
Maybe there's something I misunderstood but I think that could be interesting t know also for others who wish to understand what is happening under the hood.
Thanks again, Michael alias d-light
Michael,
The brightness or darkness of the top "layer" is determined by the "amount" slider on the adjustment brick. If you watch the video again, you'll see it in the lower left corner of the screen.

Have you signed up for the ApertureExpert mailing list?
Thank you Joseph, I think now it's clear. Maybe it was just too late yesterday evening (after 12 hours in the office...). I even posted this question under the wrong section here.
Have a great weekend!
Michael
