ApertureExpert Live Training Session 005: Rating, Flagging & Labeling Strategies

Welcome to the fifth ApertureExpert Live Training session!

What, you missed the last ones? That’s easily fixable with a visit to the Live Training catalog, $2 each and a large HD download :)

This session is all about developing rating, flagging and labeling strategies in Aperture. Easy, right… a five star image is a keeper! But how do you classify 1 through 5 stars so your methods are consistent? What methods do you use to ensure you really have isolated your best shots? What do you use flagging for? Labels? Do I really need all these colors on my screen?

on Sun, May 1 (check time zones carefully!) at…

Honolulu: 10:00 am (1000 Sunday May 1)
Los Angeles: 1:00 pm (1300)
New York: 4:00 pm (1600)
London: 9:00 pm (2100)
Vienna: 10:00 pm (0900)
Hong Kong: 4:00 am (0400 Monday May 2)
Tokyo: 5:00 am (0500)
Sydney: 6:00 am (0600)
Auckland: 8:00 am (0800)

Please be sure to check your time zone carefully. When you register, you can choose to view the time in your own time zone—which will be more reliable than my calculations above! Please do to ensure you don’t miss out!

Space is limited to just 100 seats—sign up early and read the attendance policy!

Did you miss the earlier sessions? No fear, they’re available here.

Agenda

30 minutes - lesson
15 minutes - Q&A

Questions (Q&A)

Feel free to submit your ON-TOPIC question(s) any time during the session, however they will not be addressed until the Q&A. If you’re thinking of submitting a question, take your time to craft it into a logical, coherent question that I can read live and answer without needing further info. IT’S LIKELY NOT ALL QUESTIONS WILL BE ANSWERED—we simply won’t have time.

If you don’t get your question answered live, feel free to post it in the forum.

Download

Remember, you’re watching this for free, but the paid $2 downloadable version will be available at here at ApertureExpert.tv within 24 hours after the session. Even if you get to watch live, if you enjoyed the session, I’d certainly appreciate the support of buying the download anyway. Naturally you’re under no obligation to do so, but it’ll help keep us “on the air”!

That’s it! Enjoy the session.

I attended this webinar live and thoroughly enjoyed it. It is easy to think of things like rating and tagging as not "real" photography work. Joseph, however, does a wonderful job helping to understand where they fit in the workflow of photographers. Awesome!

I downloaded this 005 video, and I was not able to put it on my iPad 2. My MacBook said that it was unable to display this movie on my iPad. After using Handbrake to convert the video with iPad templated settings, I was able to put it on there. I have not tried it with other videos. Can you look into this?
