Reaction to Updated Aperture

 Source: http://www.apple.com/aperture/whats-new.html#library

First off, this doesn’t appear to be Aperture 4, but nonetheless is a significant update.

Optimized for Retina Display

This is great for the lucky ones that are going to buy a new MacBookPro. I’m not one fo those. I have a very new MBP that will have to last me for a few more years. Having said that, I’m very curious to see how photos look. I expect it will be magnificent.

Removing a Curve Point in Aperture

Back in November, 2011 Joseph wrote about the new feature in Aperture 3.2 that added a new Auto-Curves behavior, and how to get Curves to act like it did in the previous version. As it turns out, if you don’t want the S, just option-click.

To take this even further, it’s possible to removes individual curve points with a control-click.

Removing a Curve Point

Control-click on the curve point to delete it.

To remove a curve point just mouse over the point in question and control-click. When you do, an action window will appear giving you the choice to reset the entire curve or to just remove the selected point.

Two New User Tips: Smart Album Verification and Importing CF Cards to the iPad

There are two great new User Tips up for your weekend enjoyment…

Simple Verification of Smart Album Searches by David Moore

Importing CF Cards to the iPad by Michael Ball

Both are very useful tips. I’ve used David’s tip to verify that Smart Albums are working several times, as it’s adds great peace of mind when verifying your own Library. And while I would need to upgrade my iPad to the 64GB model to even consider taking advantage of Michael’s tip on importing images from a CF card, it’s great to know that it’s possible to do so.
