For whatever reason, I haven't been getting my subscriptions to Aperture Expert....makes me wonder if I may have unsubscribed? Sadly I see that I missed this offer from onOne....any chance they'll be offering again in the future?

onOne are forever having offers. It won't be long before another one comes along.

In the meantime, if you're dead keen to get the software, Google "onOne discount code" and you'll get a range of bloggers, including some "big names", offering 15% off the whole Suite (which comes in three varieties).

After commenting I noticed someone complaining about the way onOne interacted with Aperture..........anyone finding this plug-in reliable and beneficial? Am especially interested in Black and White Effects.

Helen,

I have the suite but the only tool I've used repeatedly is the Perfect Resize. I had no issues with how it interacted with Aperture, and in fact just finished recording a training where I used Perfect Resize.

I use the full suite and sometimes the round trip doesn't work, no matter what module I pick. Both Aperture & PPS7 seem pernickity about the import/workspace settings. L****room also has occasional round trip problems but less so than Aperture.

Rather than using PPS as a plugin, I have resorted to using it as my "external editor" and things are a lot more reliable now. Aperture doesn't like having all of its system resources stolen though & will still fall over in that way that stressed-out Aperture does.

I think that in a few more iterations, this really will be an outstanding suite of tools. It's not quite there yet but it's still my preferred mode of post-processing.

Having said that, I get outstanding results with the B&W module as it is.

Thanks, Russ. I have NIK Silver Efex but I've been hearing that onOne's B/W is a superior program. Will still think about this....and the one Joseph mentioned as well.

Joseph........will you let us know when your Perfect Resize training airs? I'm assuming this will be an onOne webinar?

Helen,

The training I'm releasing isn't on Perfect Resize, it just happens to include it. I don't cover much at all in how to use it, other than showing the basic steps as one option (out of three in the training) for increasing file resolution.

This training is a "Artist Creative Series" (which may be renamed) on B&W photography, specifically about my B&W print on metal gallery hanging, and will be release on Lynda.com

Joseph,

Thanks for letting me know. My subscription to lynda runs out on the 20th....not sure if your training will be up by then. However, I'd like to add that I viewed the free offerings in your NIK Creative Effects Workshop from the side-bar......love your presentation style and the detailed explanations.....that will be my next purchase. New to this site and loving it!

Thanks,
Helen

Helen,

Actually that Nik creative workshop will be on Lynda too, but I don't know when. Lynda bought video2brain, and most of my training videos are being transferred. So, you may want to keep that subscription! Or of course you can buy the training now from the links in the sidebar :)

And, thanks for the complement. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed what you saw!
