Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 4.02 for Aperture 3 and iPhoto ’11

Apple has just released another Camera RAW update, adding support for a handful of cameras including:

  • Nikon COOLPIX P7700
  • Olympus PEN E-PL5
  • Olympus PEN E-PM2
  • Olympus STYLUS XZ-2
  • Panasonic LUMIX DMC-GH3
  • Sony Alpha NEX-5R
  • Sony Alpha NEX-6
  • Sony Alpha SLT-A99

I was surprised and delighted yesterday when I received a call from Apple to inform me that the Aperture issue I had reported had been resolved by this update. I have confirmed that RAW files shot with a 3:2 aspect ratio with a Panasonic DMC-FZ38 are, in fact, rendering properly now. Yea! Thanks, Apple!

So where is raw support for Fuji? I'd love to be able to work on my X-Pro1 files in Aperture instead of having to use Lightroom.

I've heard rumors that Capture One is close to being able to open Fuji RAW files. Let's hope it's true and that the support is good.

Capture One Fuji support is here in 7.02 and it's very good! Have just installed the 60 day demo.

It looks like this could be the end of a long happy relationship with Aperture, unless of course they actually support my cameras.
