I'll see if I can get Sara to respond to your question; I'm not sure why the "Save as Adobe PDF" isn't there (but I know what you mean; it was missing from one of my systems, too), and I have no idea on the issuu requirements, but I know she uses it extensively.

Hi Joseph,
I appreciate your help. The issuu requirements are limited to 100 megs so I don't think anything can be done there. If I get the option and I can modify "Save as Adobe PDF" to save as smallest file size, I think this will do it. Sara did it with no issues in her video. Many thanks!

I'm trying to print my book(which i did the layout for in aperture) and 1. i dont have the drop down menu option "save as adobe pdf" and 2. i can't figure out how to not have margins when i save as pdf.
if i could just figure out how to make aperture not crop my photos (with a white border around the whole page) i would be set. this is a quite urgent project so any advice is appreciated.

For the missing "Save as Adobe PDF" option… do either of you have Photoshop installed? I wonder if that's where it comes from. I know that both Sara and I have Photoshop. Also to be 100% sure you're not missing it, this is where it should be: [screenshot]
Tiffany, for your margins question… I just created a test book using the theme Extra Large > Formal and printed to PDF, and got no margin/borders. I'm not sure what you're seeing? Here's my result: [screenshot]
In your second paragraph you say "photos" not "books" so I'm not sure if you're referencing a separate problem, but just in case you are, check out this [screenshot] with some details on the Print dialog. You need to switch to advanced, and from there you can adjust the margin. If your printer doesn't print full bleed, then you won't be able to make a zero margin layout (even though you're printing PDF, Aperture doesn't know that yet). However all you need to do is create a custom paper at any size you like, and that can have zero margins and go full bleed on the PDF. Or, you could just export a JPG file and then open that in Preview and save as PDF, avoiding the custom print size issue in the first place.

this thread is really old, but I still have this problem. My findings:
- If a printer is installed, the book size "large" always produces white margins when exported to pdf
- all other standard sizes work correctly without showing margins
- custom sizes always produce white margins
- If NO printer is installed, there are always white margins (any theme or size)
Could you verify this?

First post for me and I am using OSX 10.5 with no knowledge on automator scripts. =)
I just started to create my first photo album in Aperture3 and I have come across an issue when saving the album to a PDF for the client to view. I have been watching the Sarah France video on creating a custom book design in Aperture. Sarah notes that two changes need to be made in /Library/PDF Services (1) Save as Adobe PDF and (2) Save PDF as JPEG. I don't have Save as Adobe PDF so I can't select the option to save in Smallest File Size. Do I need to purchase an Adobe product to have this option? I own Adobe CS3 already. How can I get this script or use the include PDF creator but as a smaller file size?
The second option which is adjusting the dpi on the JPG from 200 to 300 works. My problem now is that the PDF is too big, I need it under a 100 megabytes for an upload requirement (issuu) so it can viewed online for a customer.
